Gasoline sees biggest jump in four years and diesel hits historic record

SAPO6 September 2026 at 19:52

Fuel prices will rise significantly this Monday. Gasoline records the biggest increase in four years, while diesel hits a historic price record. Market pressure is reaching values between 12 and 15 cents per liter, which has been forcing an upward correction in prices at fuel stations.

The relief provided by the supplementary reduction in ISP (Excise Duty on Petroleum Products) allows partially cushioning this market pressure, but cannot completely stop it. This fiscal measure has been used by the government as an instrument to mitigate the impact of increases on consumers.

The cost to fill a 50-liter tank will exceed 105 euros for both gasoline and diesel. This value represents a new level of expenditure for drivers, who now face a substantial increase in fuel costs in a context of strong pressure on energy prices.

The board where even giants are pawns

Access to financial markets has never been so easy for the average investor, but paradoxically, decision-making power and share concentration have never been in the hands of so few, transforming large institutions and minority investors into pawns in a game dominated by big players.
