The District Coordinating Commission of Évora of the Left Bloc expressed strong concern about the situation of oncological patients who, for several months, have been forced to travel to other cities to receive radiotherapy treatments.
According to the statement sent to the DianaFM newsroom, since June 1st, treatments have been suspended to allow for the replacement of radiotherapy equipment and linear accelerators at the Unit of the Espírito Santo Hospital in Évora.
The Left Bloc alerted to the uncertainty that persists regarding the reopening of the service, which still has no predicted date to resume operation.
The party requested the urgent reopening of the Radiotherapy Unit at Espírito Santo Hospital, considering the need to guarantee access of oncological patients in the region to the treatments they require.
