Santa Clara thrashed Rio Ave 4-0 at São Miguel Stadium, in a match from the fifth round of the Portuguese I League football.

With this emphatic victory, the Azorean team rose to third place in the standings, adding important points to the table.

Rio Ave were defeated on this trip to the Azores and failed to stop Santa Clara's rise in the League.

In the standings, Santa Clara has one more point than Benfica, although the red-and-whites still have a match in hand to play.
