Benfica catches a scare against Alverca, but pulled off a comeback in the second half (2-1)

Benfica's youth team defeated Alverca 2-1 on Sunday, September 6th, at the Alverca Training Center, in a match from the fourth round of Series 2 of the first phase of the National Under-19 Championship. After winning their last match 5-0, the red and white team had to fight hard to secure the three points.

The home side started the match better and took the lead in the 34th minute, through Michael Salamanqueiro. Alverca managed to hold onto the lead until halftime, going into the break with a 1-0 advantage.

Benfica's response came right at the start of the second half. In the 46th minute, Tomás Almeida equalized and reignited the match. Ten minutes later, in the 56th minute, Afonso Ferreirinha put the Eagles ahead for the first time in the match, setting the score at 2-1.

The red and white advantage held until the final whistle, allowing Benfica to add three more points to their tally in the competition.
