Iran threatened to respond "more strongly" to future attacks by the United States. The speaker of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned that Tehran will not hesitate to retaliate with greater speed and violence should new American aggressions occur.
The threat comes in the context of an escalation of the conflict between the two countries. Ghalibaf stated that Iran is prepared to act more forcefully, signaling a shift in Iran's posture regarding tensions with Washington.
The statement represents a hardening of Iranian rhetoric, which until now had adopted a more restrained stance. The possibility of a faster and more violent retaliation increases fears of a spiral of violence in the Middle East.
