Christopher Hedberg is returning to Norway. The experienced 34-year-old Swedish right back is leaving Benfica after three seasons at the red and white club, during which he scored 155 goals. The player decided to embrace a new challenge and return to a reality he knows well, after leaving good impressions in Lisbon.
The Swede was announced as a reinforcement for Drammen, a team that is back in the Elkjøp-ligaen, the top tier of Norwegian handball. Before his stint at Benfica, Christopher Hedberg represented Elverum between 2020 and 2023, also in the Norwegian top flight, so he knows the Nordic championship perfectly.
At Drammen, the Swedish player will find a familiar face from Portuguese handball. Christopher Hedberg will be a teammate of Espen Vag, an experienced Norwegian pivot who represented Sporting in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons. With the exception of his stint at the Lions, Vag has played almost his entire senior career in the Nordic leagues.
