Italian Kimi Antonelli, from Mercedes, won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in an impressive comeback race. The 20-year-old young driver started from the back of the grid, in 19th place, due to excessive changes to items in his Mercedes' power unit, and managed to overtake all opponents to cross the finish line in first place.
The race was marked by lots of emotion and unexpected events. There was a red flag and two restarts, after a crash that took Charles Leclerc out of the race, causing despair among Ferrari fans. The race was tense until the final laps, when Antonelli and his teammate George Russell fought for the race lead.
In the end, Antonelli secured his seventh GP of the season, consolidating his position as the leader of the Drivers' Championship. Russell finished in second place, and Max Verstappen, from Red Bull, completed the podium in third. Before this victory, Lando Norris, from McLaren, had won the two previous races, in Hungary and the Netherlands.
