Benfica starts as one of the candidates to win the 2026/27 Europa League, according to a study prepared by Football Rankings. According to the projection, the eagles have a 77% probability of finishing the regular phase among the top eight, with an expectation of reaching third place with 17.26 points.
The study points to Bayer Leverkusen as a potential winner of the regular phase, followed by Bournemouth in second position. Completing the projected top 8 are Juventus, Crystal Palace, Milan, Marseille and Sunderland.
The European calendar reserves an enormously demanding challenge for Benfica right at the opening of the competition. The eagles make their debut on September 16, at 8pm, at San Siro, against Milan.
The match gains even greater importance due to the proximity of the classic match with Porto. The trip to Milan takes place a few days before the visit to Estádio do Dragão.
