The driver Kimi Antonelli secured victory at the Monza Grand Prix, ending a 60-year drought without Italian victories at the Italian circuit. The last time an Italian had won at Monza was in 1966, with Ludovico Scarfiotti.
With this victory, Antonelli extended his lead in the championship standings over George Russell to 66 points, consolidating his position at the top of the season.
The race at Monza, one of the most traditional circuits in Formula 1, had the presence of an excited Italian audience celebrating the historic achievement of the young Mercedes driver.
