How the new Pixel Watch can predict hypertension risk without a blood pressure sensor

SAPO Notícias6 September 2026 at 15:28

The new Google Pixel Watch can predict hypertension risk without needing a traditional blood pressure sensor. The developed algorithm completely eliminates the inflatable cuffs and periodic calibrations normally associated with blood pressure measurement devices.

The watch uses artificial intelligence models trained on over one billion minutes of biometric data to perform this analysis. Through this vast database, the device can analyze the microscopic deformations of the user's blood vessels.

The main objective of this technology is to alert users about hypertension, often called the "silent killer" due to its ability to cause damage without obvious symptoms.

The innovation represents a new technological frontier in the wearable devices market, where Apple has not yet managed to enter with a similar solution for detecting hypertension risks.
