Senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) publicly demanded that Justice Cármen Lúcia, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), vote in favor of opening an investigation against fellow Justice Alexandre de Moraes. The demand was made during a social media broadcast by the parliamentarian.
Flávio Bolsonaro stated that Cármen Lúcia's decision will be watched by the entire country and warned that a position favorable to Moraes could harm the magistrate's biography. The candidate questioned whether the justice will "protect Brazil, democracy, and the Supreme Court itself" or if she will side with Moraes because he is her colleague on the Plenary.
During the broadcast, Bolsonaro recalled that Cármen Lúcia has always positioned herself as a defender of democracy, freedom, and against impunity, and said that Brazil is waiting to see how her vote will go the following week. The trial regarding the opening of an investigation against Moraes was scheduled to take place during that period.
