Justice authorizes forced feeding of detained immigrants on hunger strike in the USA

The United States Justice Department authorized 19 cases of forced feeding of immigrants who began hunger strikes in protest against detention by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The immigrants are detained and are carrying out the strike as a form of protest against their prison conditions and the prolonged length of detention.

ICE is the agency responsible for the enforcement and detention of immigrants in irregular situations in the United States.

The judicial decision allows authorities to carry out medical procedures to forcibly feed detainees participating in the hunger strike.
