Vibrating flat irons are back: what's changing for hair health?

oglobo6 September 2026 at 12:11

The vibrating hair tools, a hit of beauty technology in the 2000s, are starting to reappear on the market. These devices, which include flat irons and brushes with vibratory movement, promise to make hair styling easier and preserve the hair fiber. The idea behind this technology is to make the plates and bristles slide through the hair with less resistance.

The question that arises is whether this difference in contact really represents an advantage for the hair. According to Christophe Dendaletche, hairstylist at Werner Coiffeur, vibration can help better distribute the pressure exerted on the strand. In a conventional flat iron, contact can concentrate on certain points, which can cause more damage.

With vibration, the pressure would be distributed more evenly along the hair. This more balanced distribution of heat and pressure could reduce stress on the strands during straightening or styling.

The return of these tools to the market occurs amid growing interest in devices that seek to combine styling effectiveness with greater care for hair health. Consumers seem to increasingly seek options that offer satisfactory results without compromising the integrity of their hair.
