The floods in Nepal and China caused at least 1,372 dead, according to local authorities. The number represents the official count of fatalities in the two countries affected by the floods.
In Nepal, the number of missing persons rose to 4,996. Among the missing are at least 589 foreigners, indicating the presence of tourists or international workers in the region at the time of the tragedy.
The severity of the situation led authorities to intensify search and rescue efforts, although adverse weather conditions have hindered operations in the most affected areas.
