Iran claimed on Sunday an attack on a United States naval drone in the Strait of Hormuz region. The attack occurred one day after the US Armed Forces bombed three Iranian oil tankers, including one off the coast of Kharg Island, near the country's main oil export terminal.
Mohamad Baqer Ghalibaf, speaker of Iran's Parliament and the country's chief negotiator, reacted to the escalation with threats of retaliation. In remarks broadcast by Iranian state media, he stated that Americans should have understood that the era of proportional responses has ended.
Ghalibaf added that any aggression against Iran's interests and security will receive a faster, more intense and more painful response. He also stated that Iran's recent operations demonstrate the country's willingness to respond to attacks.
