Data from the Public Security Institute (ISP) reveals that, between January 2025 and March 2026, police stations in the State of Rio de Janeiro received more than 1.3 million reports of all types of crimes. Theft, fraud and robbery lead the records, representing four out of every ten cases reported in the 15-month period.
However, when analyzing the just over 60 thousand arrests of adolescents and arrests in the act carried out in the same interval, the scenario changes significantly. The resolution rate is extremely low: only one person is arrested in the act for every 33 robberies reported in the state.
One in four detained individuals was arrested for trafficking or association for drug trafficking. Also standing out in the arrest rankings are those accused of receiving stolen goods and tampering with vehicle identification signals, which is the technical term for vehicle cloning. Robbery, theft and fraud, despite being the most reported crimes, lose prominence when observing the arrests and arrests in the act.
