At least 25 people died as a result of a bus accident on the island of Fogo, in Cape Verde, on Saturday. The authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the accident, but the death toll may rise, as some people were injured seriously.

Most of the victims were children and teenagers. The accident mobilized the island's emergency services, who provided assistance to victims at the scene of the crash.

The President of the Republic of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, expressed his condolences on social media, describing the tragedy as a day of great sorrow for the country. The Cape Verdean government has not yet issued an official statement about the accident.

The island of Fogo is one of the islands in the Cape Verde archipelago, located in the Atlantic, west of the African coast. This is one of the deadliest road accidents ever recorded in the country.
