JPP, a political party in Madeira, accused two or three economic groups of exercising decisive influence in the autonomous region. The accusation was made during the 5th edition of the party's Festival, at an event held this Saturday.
The party led by Élvio Sousa, its secretary-general, classified this influence as "monopolies" and stated that these groups act with the complicity of political power in Madeira. The accusation targets economic groups that, according to JPP, condition the development of the region.
Should JPP come to the Regional Government, the party promises to actively combat what it considers to be monopolistic practices. Élvio Sousa presented this promise as a central commitment of the party's political program for the next regional legislative elections.
JPP's position arises in the context of a partisan event, where the party seeks to distinguish itself from the other political movements in the region, presenting itself as an alternative to the economic groups it says are dominating the Madeiran economy.
