Polish central defender Jan Bednarek, from FC Porto, was punished by UEFA with a two-match suspension. The punishment is due to the red card he received during a match in Nottingham, last season.

With this suspension, the Polish player will miss FC Porto's participation in the Champions League. The penalty applies specifically to the European competition, preventing him from playing the first matches of the new edition of the Champions.

Besides the match against PSV Eindhoven, which seemed to be the focus of the news, Bednarek will also be unable to play in the match against Betis. This means the defender will be unavailable for at least two European matches.

FC Porto is thus deprived of one of their starting center-backs for the start of their European campaign, which may force the coach to rely on alternatives in the defensive sector for the upcoming commitments in the Champions League.
