Célia Neto, an athlete from Pacense, was called up by the Portuguese Camping and Mountaineering Federation to join the National Team in the Elite category of the Skyrunning World Championship. The competition will take place between September 18 and 20 in La Gomera, in the Canary Islands, Spain, bringing together over three days the main names in the sport worldwide.
The call-up comes a few months after the athlete won the title of Skyrunning Masters World Champion in July, in the French Alps. In Arêches-Beaufort, Célia Neto won the women's Over 40 category and also contributed to Portugal's team world title.
Participation in the La Gomera World Championship represents a new challenge at the highest international level for the Pacense athlete, who will once again have the opportunity to compete among some of the world's best specialists in the sport.
This call-up constitutes another recognition of Célia Neto's trajectory in skyrunning, consolidating her position as one of Portugal's reference athletes in the discipline.
