The Spanish Government publicly expressed its distrust regarding the investigation that Morocco claims to be conducting into the causes of the massive entry of migrants in Ceuta. According to sources from the Moncloa, Pedro Sánchez's Executive will only recognize investigations conducted in Spain and the European Union on this matter.
Faced with the communication from Morocco's Ministry of Foreign Affairs that it was investigating the facts, the Spanish Government's response was clear: Madrid already had its own investigation underway. "They are conducting their investigation, we are conducting ours," stated government sources.
In recent days, distrust between both countries has been growing. Last Thursday, Pedro Sánchez hardened his position regarding Rabat in the Congress of Deputies, warning that he will be firm if evident evidence of Morocco's responsibility in the migratory crisis appears.
The Spanish Executive maintains that a diplomatic change of such magnitude, with unpredictable consequences, must be fully substantiated before any formal accusation.
