At least 22 people died in a bus accident on the Cape Verdean island of Fogo. The vehicle was carrying students who were on a school trip when it left the road and fell from a height of approximately 30 meters.
The accident occurred when the bus was traveling with a group of students. Local authorities have not yet released information about the identity of the victims or their age groups.
Rescue operations were initiated immediately after the incident. Cape Verdean authorities have not yet publicly commented on the possible causes of the accident.
The island of Fogo is one of the nine inhabited islands of the Cape Verde archipelago, located in the Atlantic Ocean. This is one of the most serious road accidents recorded in the country in recent years.
