Avtrex, a database developed to determine how many birds have been extincted by human activity, was presented today during the 27th Spanish Ornithology Congress, which is taking place simultaneously with the 8th Iberian Ornithology Congress. The event is bringing together more than 400 researchers from Portugal and Spain in Granada.

The new tool aims to rigorously quantify the impact of human activity on bird extinction worldwide. The development of this database represents a joint effort by the scientific community to document and better understand avian biodiversity losses.

The congress, which brings together hundreds of Iberian specialists, serves as a platform for presenting discoveries and tools relevant to ornithology. The presentation of Avtrex is part of the broader context of debates on conservation and threats to bird species.
