Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes was invited to be on President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's honor podium during the traditional September 7 parade, which takes place on Monday in Brasília. As is standard practice with all members of the Court, the Presidential Palace extends invitations to them for the event. However, those close to Lula already have the information that Moraes will not attend the event.
Moraes is going through an unprecedented crisis at the Court, after fellow Justice André Mendonça made public a Federal Police report containing exchanges between him and banker Daniel Vorcaro of Master. The Justice reacted and requested an investigation targeting Mendonça.
In 2024, Alexandre de Moraes was present at the parade, accompanied by Luís Roberto Barroso, who was president of the Court at that time and is now retired, as well as Justices Gilmar Mendes, Dias Toffoli, Cristiano Zanin, and Edson Fachin. Last year, the Justice also did not attend the ceremony.
