Lisbon will receive from September 17 a new immersive and interactive experience called "Smithsonian Journey Through the Cosmos: An Experience", which will allow visitors to explore galaxies and come face to face with a black hole. The installation will be located in the underground room of the Terreiro do Paço Metro Station, transforming the space into a gateway to the cosmos.
The experience is based on the work of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, which is part of the Smithsonian Institution, one of the world's most prestigious scientific and museum institutions. The project promises to be an educational and immersive journey through the universe, using interactive technology to take visitors on an exploration of space.
The choice of the Terreiro do Paço Station as a location is not accidental, as it is one of the main entry points to Lisbon, both for residents and tourists. This allows the experience to reach a vast and diverse audience.
The installation represents a partnership between the world of space science and Lisbon's culture, bringing to the underground metro a proposal that combines education, entertainment and cutting-edge technology. The experience is expected to attract visitors of all ages, contributing to the democratization of access to scientific knowledge about the universe.
