Édson Vander da Silva Júnior, 32 years old, identified as the drug trafficking boss in Serra, a region in Greater Vitória, Espírito Santo, was arrested in the luxury apartment of David Corrêa, aka DVD, forward for Vasco. His arrest is related to Operation "A Tropa," launched this week by the Civil Police of Espírito Santo, which had DVD and fullback Hayner Cordeiro, from Vila Nova, as targets. Messages exchanged between Édson Vander and the Vasco player were found by investigators and formed the basis for the operation.
According to the police from Espírito Santo, Édson Vander was not just a former agent of DVD, but also managed the Vasco athlete's career and finances. Both DVD and Hayner Cordeiro were born and raised in the Serra region, in Espírito Santo, where the events took place. The former agent had already been arrested in August 2024 under accusations of involvement in an attempted homicide.
The investigation revealed that the crime occurred in March 2024 and was linked to a dispute over control of organized crime in the Serra Dourada 3 neighborhood. The attack was motivated by suspicion that the victim, a man who had close ties to Édson Vander and to the second suspect Ruan de Freitas Camargo Cruz, had leaked information to a rival criminal faction. In March 2024, the victim was kidnapped and subjected to violence.
