Ruas responds to nepotism accusations from Paes' campaign: 'He has no proposals, so he spends his time telling lies'

The PL candidate for governor of Rio, Douglas Ruas, dedicated an entire campaign day to the Metropolitan Region and Baixada Fluminense, where he presented proposals to voters. During the agendas, he responded to attacks from opponent Eduardo Paes, of the PSD, who began including accusations of nepotism and enrichment in politics in his electoral advertisements directed at the president of the Legislative Assembly of Rio (Alerj).

Ruas classified the accusations as lies and stated that Paes resorts to this type of attack because he has no concrete proposals to present to voters. He highlighted that the Electoral Court has already convicted the opponent for these alleged lies and that he intends to continue talking with the population about his ideas for the future of the state.

The campaign also recorded a curious moment in the West Zone of Rio, where Paes climbed onto the roof of a car in Padre Miguel and called Ruas a political "heir" of Castro, in reference to the candidate's connection to the previous administration. The article also briefly mentions that Minister Fachin withdrew a request for investigation against Mendonça from the fake news inquiry at the Supreme Federal Court.
