Spanish government takes control of the port of Ceuta to set up tents for migrants

SIC Notícias5 September 2026 at 18:06

The Spanish government took control of the port of Ceuta to install tents for migrants. The measure was formalized through a recently signed decree.

According to the decree, the occupation of the port will be materialized through the installation, on a provisional basis, of tents and other spaces. These spaces will be designated for rest areas, an infirmary, and a pharmacy, as well as social support and intervention areas.

The decision comes in the context of managing migratory flows on the southern Spanish border, where Ceuta, as a Spanish enclave in Moroccan territory, has been a point of passage and reception for migrants.
