Former Mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD), candidate for governor of Rio de Janeiro, climbed onto the roof of a car during a march with supporters this Saturday in the Jardim Bangú community, in Padre Miguel, in the city's West Zone. The moment was used as an improvised platform to attack his main opponent in the electoral race, Douglas Ruas (PL-RJ).
Paes used the event to affirm that Ruas is the "political heir" of current governor Cláudio Castro. According to the candidate, when Castro launched Ruas into the electoral race, he declared that Ruas would represent "my continuity," and Ruas supposedly accepted this definition without protesting.
The former mayor has also been intensifying his attacks against the president of the Legislative Assembly in his electoral programs aired on television. However, some of these advertising pieces were suspended last week by order of the Regional Electoral Court of Rio de Janeiro (TRE-RJ).
Paes also criticized what he called his opponent's "facets of entrepreneurial talent," suggesting that the campaign has been revealing aspects that the candidate tries to hide from voters.
