More than 100 thousand people have already joined the free public transport pass on the Porto municipal card, announced this Friday the president of the Porto City Council, Pedro Duarte. The measure was implemented on July 10, from which date citizens began to be able to travel for free on the city's public transport through the Porto card.
Pedro Duarte expressed that the number of adhesions transmits pride to him, but also responsibility. The mayor highlighted that now public transport has to adequately respond to the signal given by the city and the growing demand that the measure generated among the people of Porto.
The Porto card, which already has more than 100 thousand units distributed, was the instrument chosen by the city council to operationalize this benefit. The massive adhesion demonstrates the significant demand from citizens for more accessible and sustainable mobility alternatives in the city.
