The Socialist Party of Madeira (PS-M) announced that it demands a written commitment from the Republic's Government for the financing of the new hospital in the region. This position comes at a time when a new public tender for the hospital construction works is underway.
PS-M states that without such a written guarantee, it is not possible to proceed with the construction safely. The party emphasizes the importance of having formal documentation confirming the financial commitment from the central executive.
This demand comes after several discussions between the regional government and the central government regarding the financing of the health infrastructure. The construction of the new hospital has been an issue debated over the past several years.
PS-M justifies its position as a way to protect the interests of the Madeiran population, ensuring that funds are secured before proceeding with the construction. The new public tender is currently underway for the construction works.
