Rafael Barbas, a 22-year-old young cyclist from Gonçalo, in Guarda, has been signed by the Spanish team Caja Rural. This signing marks the first international experience for the Portuguese rider.

Barbas concluded the last Volta a Portugal cycling race as the second-best young rider in the competition. In the same event, he also achieved 15th place in the overall classification.

The cyclist will join Iúri Leitão in the ProTeam formation, which represents a Portuguese reinforcement for the Spanish team Caja Rural.
