An elderly woman from Celorico de Basto was freed by the court after being detained as a suspect of setting three fires in the region. The woman was under suspicion of having caused the three fire hotspots on consecutive days.

The fires occurred during a week marked by extreme heat in Portugal. At least one of the fires was set during the early morning, at 4:00 AM, which raised suspicions about the intentionality of the acts.

The elderly woman was brought before the court, but was ultimately freed, with no coercive measures being applied. The authorities continue to investigate the case to confirm the suspect's involvement in the three fires.
