The Lufthansa and Air France-KLM airlines will have an additional three-week deadline to improve their offers for TAP. The Portuguese government decided to extend the deadline for the closure of the privatization process of 44.9% of the national airline's capital.
The new deadline for the conclusion of the process was set for December 31st of the current year. This extension comes at a crucial moment for TAP's future, which is going through a restructuring and privatization process.
The two competing European airlines are in the race to acquire a majority stake in TAP, competing for the purchase of a significant share of the Portuguese airline. The privatization process has been attracting considerable interest in the European aviation sector.
