The Municipality of Bragança will celebrate the 50 years of the first democratic local elections with a program that runs until December, covering the city, the parishes and different generations of the municipality. Under the motto "Bragança: 50 Years of Local Power. 50 Years of Future", the celebrations combine cultural, educational, sports and civic participation initiatives.
Among the main moments is a national conference scheduled for December 1st, at the Municipal Theatre of Bragança, dedicated to the future of local power and themes such as territorial cohesion, cross-border cooperation, mobility, housing, employment, innovation and investment attraction.
December 12th will be another central date, precisely 50 years after the first local elections, with a commemorative session of the Municipal Assembly, tribute to former local elected officials and the installation of a time capsule with contributions to imagine Bragança in 2076.
The program also includes an exhibition about the evolution of local power, a route "50 years, 50 marks on the territory", initiatives for schools, collection of testimonies and memories, sports activities and environmental actions, such as the symbolic planting of 50 trees.
