The new Mortuary Chapel in Bilhó, Mondim de Basto, was blessed yesterday at a ceremony presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese of Vila Real, D. António Augusto Azevedo, marking the completion of the rehabilitation works of that space and its surroundings.
The intervention represented a municipal investment exceeding 337 thousand euros and allowed not only the construction of the new Mortuary Chapel, but also improved access conditions and use of the area near the Church of Bilhó.
The works also included the creation of sanitary facilities, the widening of the municipal road and the construction of new parking spaces, responding to a need long identified by the local population.
The facility is now operational and available to serve the community of the parish of Bilhó, in a project achieved through collaboration between the Municipality of Mondim de Basto and the Parish Church Factory of the Parish of Bilhó.
