Lito Sousa: ANVISA authorizes import of experimental medication for influencer's treatment

The National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) authorized on Friday (4th) the import of the experimental medication ALN-6457, developed by pharmaceutical company Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, for the treatment of digital influencer Lito Sousa. The decision was considered exceptional, given that the company does not have a legal representative in Brazil and the drug does not have commercial registration with the regulatory agency.

Lito Sousa lives with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a rare and rapidly progressive neurological disease. The agency took into consideration the progressive nature of the disease when authorizing the import of the medication, which is in the pre-clinical study phase, meaning it has not yet been tested in humans with the influencer's condition.

The import request was made by Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, after Lito was accepted for use of the experimental treatment. According to Mila Seidl, the influencer's wife, the expectation is that the medication will arrive in Brazil within 7 to 9 days. She celebrated the news on social media, stating that "the impossible is becoming reality" and that the couple is ready to receive the treatment.

Are there cats? Owner reveals why they sleep in their owners' bed and the reason is "adorable"

Many cats choose to sleep in their owners' bed for reasons that include seeking warmth, a sense of security, and the trust they place in that person. Despite having several spaces available, felines prefer elevated, warm, and occupied spots where they feel protected during sleep, a time when they are particularly vulnerable. The British organization Cats Protection explains that this behavior can also strengthen the social bond between the cat and the owner, as felines that maintain close relationships tend to rest in direct contact with each other. Although the idea that the cat "protects" the owner during the night is appealing, it should be interpreted as an emotional reading rather than a scientific conclusion, as the animal's vigilance is mostly explained by its survival instincts.
