Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi in the same starting XI? Yes, it could happen very soon

SAPO Notícias5 September 2026 at 12:47

Carlos Tevez intends to organize a farewell match at the Estadio Bombonera in Buenos Aires, and at this event he wants to bring together Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the same starting XI. The Argentine striker, who retired from playing in 2019, plans to gather some of the biggest stars in world football for this special match.

Tevez believes it is possible to convince Ronaldo to participate in the event, considering that the relationship between the two players is positive. The Portuguese player, who currently plays for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, would be one of the main attractions of the farewell match of the former Manchester United and Manchester City player.

The choice of the Estadio Bombonera as the venue for the event is not random, as it is the home of Boca Juniors, the club for which Tevez is considered a legend. The stadium, with a capacity of approximately 49,000 spectators, would be the ideal setting for a farewell that promises to bring together important figures from international football.

No official dates have been announced yet for this farewell match, nor has the definite participation of Ronaldo or Messi in the event been confirmed.
