Benfica's SAD, led by Rui Costa, is preparing a new contract renewal proposal for Andreas Schjelderup, the Norwegian winger considered one of the best players in the red squad. The player still has two years on his contract with the club from Luz.
Schjelderup had already received a renewal proposal at the end of last season, worth up to 18 million euros gross over five years, but the winger chose to ignore that offer. The new proposal should have more attractive conditions than the previous one.
The player believes he was not properly valued by Benfica, despite the growth he showed during the second half of last season. However, the issue does not appear to be related to the financial factor, which makes the dossier more sensitive for the club's board.
Schjelderup is described as a truly sensitive dossier for the red structure, and Benfica now intends to present a new contract extension offer to try to secure one of the main players in the team.
