Saturday will be marked by a rise in maximum temperatures in mainland Portugal. This rise will be more significant in the Alentejo region and the Tagus Valley, where thermometers could reach 40 degrees Celsius. The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) is the entity responsible for the weather forecasts mentioned in the article. In addition to the intense heat, the continuation of suspended dust in the atmosphere is expected, maintaining conditions of poor air quality. IPMA also indicates that showers and thunderstorms may occur in the interior of the North and Central regions during the afternoon, conditions that may arise due to the atmospheric instability forecast for those areas.
