Woman sues farm in the US for R$ 11 million after slipping on ramp and fracturing tibia, fibula and ankle

A family farm in Oregon, United States, called Red Berry Barn, is the target of a lawsuit seeking $2.2 million, approximately R$ 11 million, in compensation after a visitor suffered multiple fractures when she fell on an exit ramp of a zip line. The action was filed in August by Paige Jean Smith in the Oregon Circuit Court and attributes the injuries to the alleged negligence of the property.

According to the complaint, the accident occurred on October 20, 2024, when Smith was helping her son use the zip line during a visit to the farm. When instructed to leave the elevated platform via a ramp, she reportedly found the area in dangerous conditions. The lawsuit states that "at that time and place, the exit ramp was muddy, slippery and/or unsafe for users to use as a means of exiting the elevated platform."

Smith fell while descending the structure and, according to the lawsuit, fractured her tibia, fibula and ankle. The woman also claims she developed chronic pain, arthritis and other sequelae as a result of the accident.

Israeli army killed seven World Central Kitchen humanitarian workers in Gaza after associating them with Hamas. But they were not from Hamas

An investigation revealed that seven World Central Kitchen humanitarian workers were killed by the Israeli army in Gaza in April 2024 after a misidentification that associated them with Hamas. The attack resulted from a controversial military practice that gives commanders leeway to identify targets based on the alleged association with combatants. Although World Central Kitchen had coordinated the movements of its teams with Israeli forces, a convoy with three international staff members was hit by three rockets, causing deaths of various nationalities. Israel attributed the incident to a misassessment and failures to follow established procedures.
