The punk circle has become a trend at lively shows in Brazil. Reporter Leonardo Ribeiro tested the practice, which was seen at Rock in Rio and also at shows by artists like Detonautas, Diogo Defante, and Larissa Luz. It is an activity where fans organize themselves to jump together and bump into each other in a coordinated manner.
At the Detonautas show, singer Tico Santa Cruz invited the audience to form a "little circle" during the song "Ainda vou te levar pra outro lugar." The self-management system was already functioning naturally during more energetic songs even before the invitation.
The dynamics work with unwritten rules. One fan is responsible for opening the circle, pushing people back to leave an empty space in the middle. When the beats of the music get stronger, that same "judge" gives the signal for everyone to mix together. The reporter highlights that nobody gets hurt doing this practice.
