The newspaper Heraldo de Castellón documented at the end of the 19th century the growing arrival of bathers to coastal towns such as Alcossebre, already comparing with previous seasons. On August 11, 1900, the newspaper highlighted that Alcossebre was the point on the coast with the longest beach, in addition to mentioning the low prices of food in the region.
The newspaper also predicted that for the following year a guest house would be built capable of accommodating 50 families of summer visitors. The brief note ended with an appeal to the authorities of Alcalà de Xivert to improve the appearance and salubrity of the town, stating that this would make Alcocebre a preferred destination for summer.
Despite these initial expectations, the real tourist development of the town only occurred from the 1960s onwards, almost six decades after these first optimistic predictions of the Heraldo de Castellón.
