Capital Inicial, with Dado Villa-Lobos as a special guest, closed the Sunset Stage on the first day of Rock in Rio with a fair tribute to Renato Russo. The show was symbolic for several reasons, as the musicians have deep connections to the history of Brazilian rock.
Dado Villa-Lobos gained a brother, Dinho Ouro Preto, when he came from Europe to live in Brasília at the end of the 1970s. Dinho's mother married the father of what would come to be the guitarist of Legião Urbana. Additionally, Fê Lemos and Flavinho Lemos, drummer and bassist of Capital Inicial, respectively, were part of Aborto Elétrico, Renato Russo's band before Legião Urbana.
On stage, there was a surprise: Fê Lemos was not on drums. He was replaced by Gui Amaral, without any explanations being given about the change. Capital Inicial is the record-holding band for presentations in the editions of Rock in Rio in Brazil, with nine shows in total.
