The Carnan brand made its runway debut with the Carnan & Niemeyer collection, its first collaboration, presented on Friday (4) at Caminho Niemeyer in Niterói. The collection was developed in partnership with the Oscar Niemeyer Institute and uses elements from the architect's repertoire, such as lines, curves, colors, and structures, translated into pieces that preserve the label's DNA through pleats, embroidery, and constructive cuts.
Among the architectural references are the Itamaraty Palace, the National Congress, the Pampulha complex, the Copan Building in São Paulo, and international projects such as Le Volcan. The choice of location reinforces the relationship between fashion and architecture proposed by the presentation, since Niterói gathers the second largest concentration of Oscar Niemeyer's works in the world.
The brand was founded in 2018 by Breno Fernandes, a native of Niterói, alongside Paulo Carneiro, from Minas Gerais. The runway debut marks an important moment for Carnan, which is now positioning itself in the fashion scene with an identity connected to Brazilian architecture.
