Nuno Ramos is a Brazilian multiartist who defines himself as a visual artist, writer, composer and, more recently, opera director. In an interview with the Fim de Expediente program this Friday (4), he talked about his trajectory and how he sees his work. Ramos states that everything in his life "is in formation," much like the materials he uses in his works, and that he tries to find his way in everything he sets out to do.
Regarding his background, Ramos says he had training to be a writer, but something didn't work out at the end of adolescence, leading him to start painting. Even so, he didn't abandon the "thing" of writing. Within the visual arts, he started as a painter, then moved on to sculpture, and later began doing performance and installation, among other artistic languages.
The artist states that it is not an intention or a project to do everything at once. According to him, it is something that "just happens," a natural consequence of his trajectory. Ramos also reveals that he has a certain way of getting into things he doesn't know, which ended up defining his way of working and exploring different forms of artistic expression.
