Santos is not optimistic about Neymar's situation. The exams performed on the forward confirmed a type 2B injury in the right anterior thigh. The recovery time for this type of injury is four to eight weeks, and the doctors' forecast is that the player will need the maximum time, meaning eight weeks.
The injury was felt during the draw against Palmeiras, last Wednesday, in the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals. Neymar felt the pain still in the first half and was substituted at halftime.
The day after the match, the player complained about the conditions of the Vila Belmiro pitch and blamed those responsible for the field maintenance, stating that the surface was in very poor condition. He also criticized holding the match on a field with problems, mentioning that the grass was "full of holes" due to a decompaction done one day before the game.
It is worth noting that Neymar had been absent from the first match against Palmeiras, held at Parque Nubank, precisely because he does not play on synthetic surfaces. The player expressed his dissatisfaction publicly, criticizing both the state of the field and the situation of having to play in conditions he considers inadequate.
