The Swedish band The Hives, performing at Rock in Rio, has a curious story behind its name. In the 1990s, drummer Chris Dangerous found the word "hives" in a dictionary and suggested it to his bandmates, who mistakenly understood that the term meant a highly contagious and lethal disease, when in fact it refers only to hives, an allergic skin reaction that is not transmissible. The idea of a band that could "spread like an epidemic" pleased the group, which kept the name. The confusion ended up contributing to the band's identity, formed in Fagersta, Sweden.
