The former mayor of Vila Nova de Gaia, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues, was acquitted of all crimes he was charged with. The trial concerned the illegal use of municipal funds to purchase tickets for football games.
The Public Prosecutor's Office had accused Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues of having misused public funds to acquire tickets for football matches, which would constitute a crime of abuse of power or misappropriation of public funds.
After the judicial process, the court decided to acquit the former mayor of the Municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia of all charges, as the criminal responsibility of the defendant in the facts attributed to him was not demonstrated.
With this decision, Eduardo Vítor Rodrigues is free from any conviction related to this case, which involved the use of municipal funds to purchase sports tickets.
