Apple wants to accelerate AI use on its devices with new chips targeting businesses

oglobo4 September 2026 at 20:36

The launch of the new generation of Macs with the M6 chip represents, for Apple, more than just a performance evolution of its computers. Behind the arrival of the new equipment is a broader strategy to expand the company's presence in the corporate market and transform devices like Macs, iPhones, and iPads into components of enterprise artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The bet is to have a larger share of AI calculations performed directly on devices, reducing dependence on data center servers and, consequently, the volume of cloud-based processing contracted. This shift comes at a time when companies are increasingly trying to distribute AI tasks between the cloud and the devices used by employees as a way to reduce their operational costs.
